1099-DA crypto Acquisition Date , "Various" option missing - isn't this a bug?

I am manually entering my crypto sales in TT Premier / Windows.   For the Acquisition Date there is no option for "something other than a date" , like there is when doing a 1099-B.     I need to  put  in "Various" date for stocks .  Is there a reason this option  isn't available here ?

I tried to do an override directly on the 8949 form, but TT flags it as an error.   I assume it won't let me eFile it like this.    Shouldn't i be able to override it ??

I saw another post where somebody suggested picking  a representative date that establishes  long / short term.   Is that the best we can do ?  - Isn't this a bug that should be fixed so it works like a 1099-B?

You can use any date to accomplish long or short term sales. See the holding periods below.

Holding Periods:

  • Long term is a holding period of more than one year (one year plus one day) and receives capital gain tax treatment (0%, 10%, 15%, 20% depending on your regular rate of tax)
  • Short term is a holding period of one year or less and receives ordinary gain tax treatment (your regular rate)
