QUESTION

I see it asks to file head of household you and your spouse must have been separated from July - December. What if we separated from January - August and I supported the kids and home during this time but then we got back together in August , Can I claim HOH since I technically did support the expenses for 7 months?

QUESTION

No, you can't file as Head of Household.  To qualify for Head of Household, you must be considered unmarried at the end of the tax year. ‌You were married at the end of the tax year.  To be considered unmarried, your spouse may not have been a member of your home during the last 6 months of the tax year.
