HELLO...I'm trying to figure out how to file HOH with a qualifying person not dependent. I have answered all the questions correctly. I qualify based on the requirements. but Turbo tax is not allowing me to claim HOH filing status. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

Your qualifying person has to be your dependent unless it is the case of you living with your child and are giving the dependency to the other parent who doesn’t live with you.
the dependent also has to be relate by blood and a US citizen or resident the entire year.
Are you the custodial parent who is trying to file as Head of Household?
Are you the custodial parent? Do you have an agreement with the other parent to allow the other parent to claim them--due to divorce or that you live apart and share custody? Did one of you sign a Form 8332?
If there is a signed 8332 then the custodial parent retains the right to file as Head of Household, get earned income credit and the childcare credit. The non-custodial parent gets the child tax credit for children under the age of 17.
As far as the IRS is concerned, the custodial parent is the one with whom the child spent the most nights during the tax year--at least 183 nights.
I’m not looking for an answer about whether or not I qualify. I previously stated that I qualify. I’m trying to figure out how to enter that info on Turbo Tax. As I stated I’ve answered all the questions correctly but TT is not allowing me to claim HOH filing using the nondependent. Thank you!
Is the non dependent your child?
@KIMMIE112 You are not giving us anything to go on. Unless you are claiming a qualified child and you are the custodial parent, there is not another way to file as Head of Household unless you claim a qualified dependent. You must have a dependent who is blood-related to you in order to file as Head of Household. You cannot claim a GF or BF as a dependent in order to file as HOH nor can you just say that you pay over half the household expenses and file as HOH unless you are also claiming a qualified dependent.
Please explain what criteria you are trying to use in order to file as HOH. Who are you calling a "non-dependent?"
