This is really frustrating.
I took out $30,000 from my retirement plan in Nov. 2020 under the Covid-related relief plan.
I decided to spread the taxes over the next three years, so when I filed the tax return last March, I paid for $10,000. And now I want to pay the tax for another $10,000.
When I checked my tax return form last year, I found $10,000 in 8582 Form under Taxable Pension Distributions.
When I tried to find out the same form, I couldn't. Instead the Turbo taxonline showed Form 8915E. And this was the question: Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?
When I clicked Yes, I was asked to find 2020 Form 8915E, but in my tax return 2020, there was no form like 8915E. It was 8582 instead. I asked Turbo tax experts over the phone, and none could give me any good answer. Any help?

If you do not want to amend then you can file as if you had a Form 8915-E.
The amount subject to tax this year to go on Form 8915-F is $10,000 for 2021.
This is assuming you did not make a any repayment and did not file form 8606 in 2020.
No.1 are you sure you are opening the tax return file that you SUBMITED to IRS?
Form 8915-E is the required form and if you did not file it, you'll have to amend your 2020 tax return before filing 2021.
I don't understand what you mean.
My tax return last year was accepted by IRS.
Why should I amend it???
ask IRS for a transcript of your 2020 tax return. they will mail it to you
if you filed your COVID distribution correctly you will see the amount $10,000 included in
taxable IRA distributions or taxable pension /annuity amount, depending on from where you took the money.
Yes, I see the amount $10000 in taxable pensions, but the name of the form that shows it is Form 8582, not 8915E. That's why I have trouble finding the same form on TurboTax Online. Any help?

Actually I found the form 8915E in my 2020 tax return!
Thanks.
