I am experiencing an issue uploading last years tax return files into QEF to set up 1099's. Last year I the 1099's were created via desktop. This year I want to QEF for electronic filing. I am getting an error message when uploading last year's return. What do I do?

There are 2 possibilities for this. Either you are using wrong type of tax file for extracting the information or the file might be corrupted or has some missing information.

If this does not solve your issue, please call TurboTax Customer service.  Here is a link:  Turbo Tax Customer Service

If you are still getting an error, it would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file that is experiencing this issue when trying to upload to 2023 QEF. You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions on your prior year TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax CD/Download for Windows
  2. Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
  3. Write down or send an image of your token number then place in this issue.
  4. We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.
  5. Please also tell us any states included in the return.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and provide you with a resolution.
