I had the supplemental tax and property tax paid last year. My question is that should I just add the total amount of these two as the property tax?

You could add them together; however, if you have a mortgage I would suggest an alternative.
To Identify the two types of property tax payments you can enter the primary tax with your mortgage, and the supplemental tax under Property (Real Estate ) Taxes.
Log into TurboTax
On the summary page the two numbers will be combined.
Massachusetts law requires the Board of Assessors to assess Supplemental Taxes on property when the value has changed by more than 50% during any fiscal year.
Thanks for your response. I am not able to locate the additional property tax info. I am using turbo tax software.
What difference does it make if I just added the two property taxes together?
It is reported on the federal sch A as a total of the properties so that is fine. It is always good to keep your records so you can identify which numbers came from where.
