I bought turbo premier online which included one state tax for prepare and print. I do not want to e file but it won't let me print out unless I pay for an e file. How do I print it out?

When you use online software you are not paying an extra fee to e-file. You are paying to use the software to prepare your tax return. Your fee is the same whether you e-file the return or print it and mail it in. You cannot print a return you prepared using online software unless you pay for the use of the software.
If you still would like to print out your return, please follow these instructions to switch from E-file to File by mail.
The description said my $119 INCLUDES 1 STATE VIA DOWNLOAD . So I have to pay another $49 just to print it?
@45191 Wait a minute---you said you used online software. Now you say you used the CD/download. If you used the CD/download then your software included the program to prepare a state return. But with the CD/download there is a fee to e-file the state return. That fee is $25. If you want to avoid the state e-file file with the desktop software you can print and mail the state return. Not sure where you are seeing $49 but be careful----it will offer you the chance to have your $25 e-file fee deducted from your federal refund and then you also get socked with a "refund processing fee" of $40 by the third party bank. Do not do that. Print and mail your state.
It wontleg me print un.ess I pay another 49 dollars
I used online. Was my state download not included in the 119 dollars? The 49 dollars is what comes on when I go to stop one under file and start
Are you using the Desktop program installed on your computer? Do the menu items go across the top? Or are you in the Online web version and the menu items are in a black bar down the left side?
In the Desktop program go back though the FILE tab slowly and watch where you click. There are a couple places that can trip you up. Are you in California? You might need to delete Premium Services and Audit Defense or Max separately. (Premium is an extra service).
Do you know what software you are using? Where is your toolbar? Is it on top or along the side --vertically? If you have a vertical tool bar you are using online software and you have to pay for the state return. It is a separate fee. With online you pay separately for federal and state. And...a state return is $49 with online---whether you e-file it or mail it.
Look carefully here---do you see where it shows that the state is additional?

Click the words state additional to see the fee for preparing a state return.
Yes the State program is included in Premier. Did you already download the free state? When you go to the State tab and click Start does it try to charge you for a state?
Do you get a screen that looks like this? Do not click on Get another state. That is to buy a different state program.
If you are using the Online version, you can see the breakdown of fees by following the below instructions:
Tip: If these instructions don't work (for example, on your mobile device) open the File section and then proceed to the Review Your Order screen. This also shows the breakdown of your charges.
@45191 You are confusing us with your use of the word "download"--- if you are using online software you did not download anything. You used a web-based software program. Download would mean you downloaded it and installed it to your own hard drive.
Again----online software has separate fees for federal and state software. The state was not included if you used online software for your federal return. You pay another $49 for a state return.
oh boy. I have used turbo tax 2 years.
Turbo Tax Premier 2020 CD
Turbo Tax Premier 2021 download.... because the CD kept getting delayed. PURCHASED
$90ish
I filed Fed.
I filed UT State and was charged $20.00
I opted for audit protection $45.00
Sounds like UT should have been included. Why was I charged another $20?
Golly!
It took a month or so to figure out that if I am using a downloaded or CD version I don't need an online account. It is confusing with all the layers. So I say to the original poster of this question, you aren't alone! I haven't found a place where any of this is clearly stated by Intuit. (page 1 information!!!)
It is $20 (25 after March 1) to efile a state return from the Desktop program. Including the first free state. The free state is just for a free state PROGRAM, not returns filed. You can print and mail state for free. Then it sounds like you wanted to have the $20 efile fee deducted from your federal refund? There is a refund processing service charge for that. Or you added on the Audit Protection separately.
It should still let you print. Try switching to FORMS mode and open the state return and print it.
