Appreciate the response but this does not answer my question in terms of when the TurboTax W4 calculator will be updated for 2020. The IRS withholding calculator is confusing. When I complete the 2020 IRS calculator it says I need to withhold a certain dollar amount more per paycheck and my wife needs to withhold a certain dollar amount extra per paycheck. When I go to download the w4 in line 4(c) extra withhholdings it auto populates a number that is different from the above and I am trying to figure out where these numbers are coming from.
No, there is no exact date just yet. We're currently updating the 2020 changes into our W-4 calculator. ln the meantime, please use the IRS W-4 Tax Withholding Estimator. Please follow this link for the most updated information, https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/w4/
2020 was my first year to go on unemployment. I worked until March due to online schooling. I remember being ask if I wanted taxes taking out so I said sure just state. They didn’t tell me I would need to pay in. (I fixed it for this year) ANYWAYS end of Feb 2021. It said I owed for federal (and for state (even though I had state taken out) they was just going to take it out my return but I didn’t file (thank God). Yesterday March 25 2021 It now shows don’t owe anything and im receiving the full amount. IRS has already accepted both returns.
If you haven't filed your 2020 return yet, use the power of TurboTax to generate a new W-4 form.
The W-4 calculations in your program are up to date with current tax rates.
Here's how to generate and print a new W-4 using TurboTax. We recommend having your most recent pay stub handy:
