Personal Use Days - Second Home

If I visit my second home and spend the day and night  there but have to do remote work for the company I work for at my second home, can I still count it as a personal day as long as I am not doing work on the property itself?

That is not an income tax question.  Have a conversation with your employer about whether they count that as working from home or as a personal day.

Yes, as long as you are not engaged in repair and maintenance, on a substantially full time basis, on the property, the day would count as a personal use day when you are using it for personal purposes (including working at your primary job).

Yes, but i rent my second home and use it for personal use days. If I am using the second home for personal use, but in this case sometimes working remotely for the company I work for at my second home, can I count that as a personal use day?

Thanks. It is usually only 3-4 days a year where I have to work remotely down at my second home for the company I work for (and not any repair/maintenance on the property). So I can count those 3-4 days to hit my personal use day requirement?

Yes, you can count those days as personal use days. In fact, you have to do so for federal income tax purposes.

And if was just me at my second home, and not my family, I can still count as a personal use day?

Yes, it would still be a personal use day if it was only you there.

Yes, it would count as a personal use day if you, alone, were there (not maintaining or repairing the property) or if you simply allowed a friend or family member to use the home.
