Pensions Line51b 1040

I have entered 3 1099Rs. 2 pensions and 1 IRA RMD. The sum of those 3 is correct and shown on line 5a 1040. But on line 5b shows a reduced taxable amount. I do know of any reason for any of it to be non taxable. Last years 1040 did not show 2 amounts, only an amount on 5b. Please help.

I suggest that you review your copies of 1099-R's and go back through what you posted you posted.

    • Since the total is correct that should not be the issue.
    • Is box 2a different than Box 1?
    • Check Box 7.
    • Is there anything other than a 7 in this box?
    • When you went through the interview did you enter any amount that was pre-tax amount?

One of the pensions shows TaxAmount in 2A as UNKOWN. The gross distribution in 1 is used as taxable amount. One 1099 Box 7 has 4.  No mention of pre-tax amount
