Paying takes on SSI disability

My wife is on SSI and I work full time. According to Notice 703 on the back of her statement, it says 'If your SSI benefits were your only source of income for 2016, you probably will not have to file a federal tax return...' It was her only source of income, but not ours. I already filed, but I did include her SSI in the return. Should I have?

On tax return where you are filing as Married Filing Jointly all income received in 2016 for both of you is to be reported, including any Social Security benefits received.  You filed correctly adding the SS benefits on your joint tax return.
