Partial Rent Home Expense Allocation.

Currently renting out part of house. I have entered the 25% in the system so only a portion of my expenditures are being deducted. If I had some expenses that were just for the rental portion only, is there a way to put that end without having to manually allocate all the other expenditures this year.

I’m assuming I should not put 4 times the cost of an expense knowing that the system will only deduct 1/4 based on the rent allocation I put in.

You have two options: the program asks if you want to do the math or have the program do the work.  The goal is to get the correct numbers on your actual tax forms. This means, if the program is doing the math, you will need to multiply by 4 for the non-IRS worksheet to get the right number on the IRS form.
