Parent's taxable income`

I was confused on how to post this.

I am filing my son's taxes.  He is 23, we are not claiming him as a dependent, and he has wages from a w-2 as well as passive income from stock and real estate.  I remember TurboTax asking for the parent's taxable income, but I just typed in something....whatever.... to get by it and now I can't find where I need to enter that info.  My son does not have a 8615 form.

Parent's taxable income`

That question shows up when filing the 8615. Instructions for Form 8615 state:

Form 8615 must be filed for any child who meets all of the following conditions.

  1. The child had more than $2,600 of unearned income.
  2. The child is required to file a tax return.
  3. The child either:
  4. Was under age 18 at the end of 2024,
  5. Was age 18 at the end of 2024 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of the child's support, or
  6. Was a full-time student at least age 19 and under age 24 at the end of 2024 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of the child's support.
(Earned income is defined later. Support is defined below.)
  7. At least one of the child's parents was alive at the end of 2024.
  8. The child doesn’t file a joint return for 2024.

If the form is not required, no worries. Otherwise, the form needs to be added and the question will appear again.
