When using TurboTax, the parents can enter Form 1098-T into their TurboTax program so that the parent's TurboTax program can determine if there is an education credit since the parents claiming the student would get that credit.
If, however, there is no credit, Form 1098-T needn't be entered in the parent's TurboTax program.
Box 1 shows 2,180 in tuition expenses.
Box 5 shows 8,805 in scholarships, so if the student claims 6,625 (8,805 - 2,180 = 6,625) there is no credit.
If the claims ALL the scholarship, the parents would have 2,180 (plus expenses for books and supplies) to use for a credit.
