"OTHER WAGE ADJUSTMENTS- W-2"

My W-2 information was completely entered under the Federal Taxes. Now Under state (NJ) taxes , they are asking for "OTHER WAGE ADJUSTMENTS- W-2".

I skip that section and  finished the taxes and no errors came up. I went back and entered NJ FLI, DI, UI/WF/SWF, NJ125, that also came out with no errors but my refund was reduced. Am I taxing myself twice?

Yes, you have increased your income for NJ with those entries. You do not need to enter any of those items except for the NJ 125.

You should remove the NJ FLI, DI, and UI/WF/SWF from that screen, before you e-file your return.

Thank you for your response. I entered NJ 125, in the Federal Taxes, with the other numbers. Should it be entered twice?

You entered your W-2 on the federal return, but you need to make the adjustment on NJ state return.

Here is a screenshot of other wage adjustments - W-2 when you prepare your NJ state tax return:

Yes, if it is on your W-2 form, you need to enter the amount in the W-2 screen in TurboTax.

If you have already filed the return, this  information cannot be changed at this time and you should wait until the return is either accepted or rejected.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to modify before you resubmit.

If your return is accepted, you can amend, or correct, your return if the original entries need correction. There is no additional charge to use Turbo Tax to amend your federal or state return but you will need to wait until the IRS and your state have finished processing the original return. You do not want two copies of your return there at the same time and sometimes they make adjustments.

This is a TurboTax Help article with some Do's and Do nots of amending

In the meantime, I recommend looking at the pdf of your return to determine if there was a incorrect entry, rather than going in and disturbing the filed return.

Click here for a TurboTax Help article with directions to view or print your return.

If you have not filed and just need to edit your Form W-2, go back to Wages and Income, on the left menu

  1. Scroll down to Wages and Salaries and click Show More
  2. Click Start or Revisit for Wages and Salaries (W-2)
  3. Click on the Edit button for your W-2 or click on the trashcan icon to delete so you can re-enter.

You can upload the form or use Type it in myself and Continue.
