On form 1040 schedule 8812 it says do not file form isn’t final and it shows that I’m only claiming one of my dependents when I have 3 dependents how can I change that?

To check the information on your dependents, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Personal Info tab.
  2. On the Personal info Summary screen:
    • If you want to change information for a dependent you already entered, click on the Edit button next to the dependent's name.
    • If you want to delete a dependent you already entered, click on the Delete (trashcan)  button next to the dependent's name.
    • If you want to add a dependent, click on the Add a dependent box.

What if my return was already accepted and I can’t edit it?

Once your return is accepted, you will have to wait for it to be processed and the money settled. Once the original return is completely in the eyes of the IRS, you can amend.

Here are links to help you:

file an amended return - how to amend
