NYC resident working in NJ

I was a NYC resident working in NJ.  However, my W-2 from my employer only shows NY and NYC source income.  Since the W-2 does not list any NJ income, do I need to file a NJ tax return?  I was working in NJ b/c our work space in NYC was being renovated - so they rented temporary space in NJ for our offices while the renovation was taking place.

Yes.  You will still need to file a NJ nonresident return to claim the income for the time you were physically present in NJ even if the income was not reported on your W2 as NJ wages.

In the personal info section select that you earned income in other states and select NJ.

Then when you get to the NJ return, you will be able to allocate the amount of money you specifically earned in NJ.
