NRA treated as RA

Hi community,

For the 2020 tax year, I was on an F1 visa, but my wife is a US citizen so paper filed, to treat me (NRA) as a RA. Going forward to file jointly with my wife, do we need to continue paper filing, or can we e-file using TurboTax? I read somewhere that TurboTax doesn't offer tax filing for NRA (F1 visa) and they should use Sprintax.

I did also receive my green card halfway through 2021, so I am now a permanent resident, if that changes matters.

Yes, you should be able to use TurboTax this year to file your 1040, because you are a resident, for U.S. federal tax purposes, if you are a lawful permanent resident of the United States at any time during the calendar year. This is known as the "green card" test. You will need a valid Social Security Number or ITIN
