It will take a long time to enter multiple 1099-B transactions. I'd prefer to scan and upload my broker 1099-B statements as attachments to my 1040. Can I do this? How?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
No, you can't scan and upload the 1099-B information. Here are your options:
1. Import the forms from your broker, if possible. See How do I import my 1099? or
2. You may do a summary of the transactions. You'll be able to e-file but you'll have to send the 1099-B support to the IRS within three days of e-filing along with form Form 8453.
Here's how to enter a summary in lieu of individual transactions: Your brokerage statements should include a summary of your transactions, grouped by sales category, for example, "Box A short-term covered" or "Box D long-term covered". You'll enter the summary info instead of each individual transaction. When you are done entering all your sales transactions, you'll eventually come to the Here's the investment sales info we have so far screen where you can edit, delete, or enter more sales.
