After tax return was sent, the amount of the return from NY State was noted to be $216 less than Turbotax had indicated, which was the correct amount of $610.

The amount of the refund was less than you expected?

One issue might be the Offset program by either the US Treasury or New York State. You would have to contact them to see if they took part of your refund.

NOTE: if they did so, then normally they will send you a letter telling you what happened.

Also, how much was your bill from TurboTax? $216 sound suspiciously like what some people owe after filing, and if you paid for your return from your refund...Although, the payment is usually taken from the federal refund, not the state refund.
