Do you mean you used the CD/download for 2021? There is new software every year, written to follow all of the new tax laws. You cannot update 2021 to use it for 2022. You need to get the 2022 software to prepare 2022 returns.

When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return. You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return. The state e-file fee is $20 and increases to $25 in March.
