need to file 2022 taxes

I didn't file my 2022 tax return because I only received my social security disability benefits which are not taxed, so I didn't want to spend money on doing it. I think if I do it I could get an earned income credit??

No, you will not get earned income credit if your income was Social Security disability.    Some other kinds of disability benefits that are reported on a W-2 can allow the person to get EIC, but you cannot get EIC with a SSA1099.

You are only eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit if you have taxable income from work.  The Social Security benefits you received are not income from work.

If the Social Security benefits is the Only income to be reported on the tax return and there is no federal income taxes being withheld, then there is no reason or need to file a tax return..

Unless you also received a Form 1095-A for your health insurance through one of the State Marketplace Exchanges or from healthcare.gov then you must file a tax return.
