My wife does not have a SSS nor ITIN, and turboTax does not allow me to file because of it. She cannot apply for an ITIN without my tax returns files. What can I do?

I want to file jointly with my wife, but she does not have a SSN nor ITIN.  In order to apply for an ITIN, she needs my return files but TurboTax does not allow me to file because her information is missing an ITIN. What can I do??

You will have to print and mail the returns so that you can leave her social security number filled in with "Applied For" and submitted with the W-7 Application for ITIN attached.

Thank you for your answer.

The IRS people told me that we must present the tax returns + w7 form at their offices. So, I will do what you are suggesting. I will print the files from TurboTax and fill the SSN/ITIN field with "applied for" and see the way it goes. We have our appointment at the IRS offices next week.
