MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED

The state will send you a letter explaining the change.  TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less.   Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans?  Traffic fines, etc.?

Nothing like that. I don’t have any kids, any dependent, nor own tax, I always follow turbo tax guidelines in the past 3 years.

the irs star return is the same too, turbo tax stated it will be about 14,532, however when it hit my bank this morning, it is only 2400. Where did my money go 🥹

The reason the refund received was less than what you expected could be because your refund was applied to a past due debt.

Federal law allows only state and federal government agencies to take your refund as payment toward a debt. Examples of past due debt include  state income taxes, state unemployment compensation debts, child support ( The state can continue to garnish tax refunds each year until all child support payment obligations are satisfied)

Check the link below to contact your state department of revenue to determine what happened to your refund.

@userhuaningp Your original post above was about your state refund being lower than what you expected.  Now you are talking about the same thing happening to your federal refund.  It sounds like you have some mistakes on both returns that were corrected by the IRS and state.  Have you gone back over the income amounts you entered on your return to see if you made some mistakes?
