Yes you still pay for more than half of his expenses

No, you can not claim a 27 year old child.
The following conditions apply to claim a child:
  Under age 19 at the end of 2016 and younger than you
(or your spouse, if filing jointly)
or
Under age 24 at the end of 2016, a student (defined later), and younger than
you (or your spouse, if filing jointly)
or
Any age and permanently and totally disabled (defined later)
