My son collects SSI, does that make him disabled?

My son is 5 years old collects SSI for behavior, sensory, ASD type of disorders, but is highly functional, is he considered disabled?

If you child is receiving Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability benefits, he has been determined to be disabled.
