My return was rejected due to FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA but I did not inherit an IRA.

My tax filings got rejected twice already with error code"FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA". I opened my TT premiere on my mac this afternoon and it got an update..I checked everything again and e-filed(third time). Hopefully it worksout this time.

My return was rejected due to FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA but I did not inherit an IRA.

I'm in the same situation as most others - backdoor Roth, filed on Feb 27,  rejected on March 1 with FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA.

At first I saw the message from TT that mentioned March 5, but this morning I saw the new one: "There is a known issue with the federal return that has been addressed in a software update. Please update your software to the latest version. After applying the update, make any applicable changes if necessary, and re-transmit the return. Note: The calculation change may affect the taxpayer's refund."

I tried to resubmit, but was just rejected a 2nd time. Guess I'll try again tomorrow... was anyone else able to file successfully today?

Same here - installed the update and resubmitted two hours ago.

Federal return just got rejected again with FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA (which I don't have).

Whatever TT tried to fix with the update clearly did not solve the problem.

Sadly I was rejected again despite the alleged updates. I'm using the online Premier version. Arggggh

No luck with today's TT Premier Windows desktop app update.

Took update today March 4th 10am ET.

Re-did 1099-Rs + IRA sections just in case, no impact to refunds and identical form 8606 as before.

E-Filed 10:30p ET, rejection once again with FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA at 4:30p ET.

For reference, I have regular + mega-backdoors and no inherited IRAs.

Will try e-filing once more this weekend, then likely switch to H&R or some other app and try there.

Exact same situation here. I thought the updates of today, March 4, might have solved this software issue. However this is not the case. I opened a ticket three days back with TurboTax software customer care and they gave me a ticket number. That ticket got closed even before this error was resolved however they did give me an estimated resolution date of March 5 which is tomorrow. So I’ll wait until tomorrow and try to see if there is a new update on the desktop version of the software before I resubmit my tax returns. Same situation as everybody else - no inherited IRA.

I just got rejected too after I updated the software this morning and resubmitted.  I checked and there are no further updates available.  I rolled over a 401K last year and also a T-IRA.  This is getting ridiculous.  I'm using Turbotax Premier on a Windows 10 PC.

My return was rejected due to FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA but I did not inherit an IRA.

Still no fix. I said I'd report back after filing this morning. Got rejected again. This is Turbotax Premier Windows 10 desktop version 2020.48.20.71 (includes March 4 program updates).

To add insult to injury, TT now says that I need to update the software to apply the fix. But see below.

I'm not convinced TT is working on this issue, despite what people are being told. All the statements made have to do with fixing incorrect calculations for inherited IRAs. But since we don't HAVE inherited IRAs, that may not positively affect us.

I will just wait till the weekend for another update/successful submissions on this thread..if not I am quitting TT and just go to H&R Block or something else. any recommendations?

Same thing happened to me.  I refiled today and got rejected a second time.

So to those who refiled today and got rejected - what does it say if you look at the reject?  Does it have a target date, as it did previously (March 5th)?

My return was rejected due to FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA but I did not inherit an IRA.

I had this same error and tried to submit this twice... no luck with TT.

I filled out all my 2020 info in Credit Karma and my Federal and State returns were accepted within 5 minutes.  I am returning TurboTax to Costco and I am disputing the credit card filing charge TT charge me for the State fee and the optional Audit Protection.

I have been thinking about moving away from TT for a few years but kept coming back because all my info imported year after year.  Now, am done with TT and is was not that difficult to file with Credit Karma... FOR FREE!

Heading down this path sooner rather than later.

My return was rejected due to FED_Taxable_Inherited_IRA but I did not inherit an IRA.

After I was rejected the second time, it again got the message with no target date:

Description of error:
There is a potential issue with the calculation of your Taxable Inherited IRA.
What needs to be done:
There is a known issue with the federal return that has been addressed in a software update. Please update your software to the latest version. After applying the update, make any applicable changes if necessary, and re-transmit the return. Note: The calculation change may affect the taxpayer's refund.

I just called customer service, who said on their end it was still showing the March 5th date for this issue being fixed, and that I should try again tomorrow or Saturday.

I resubmitted today with the new update for the windows desktop version.  Same thing happened to me. I got rejected a second time for the same inherited IRA issue. Backdoor IRA to ROTH.
