You should have received a Form 1095-A for your Marketplace plan. Information from the 1095-A must be entered in TurboTax to file your federal return. Your husband may have received a Form 1095-B for his Medicare coverage. No information from the 1095-B is needed to file the return, but you should store the form with your tax records.

When you are in the Health Insurance section of TurboTax:

  • You'll first need to indicate if you and your husband had coverage all year or just part of the year. If either of you only had coverage for part of the year, TurboTax will prompt you to indicate the months that each of you had coverage.
  • Next, you'll answer Yes to Were you covered by any of these plans in 2016? This is because you had Marketplace coverage.
  • Select the type of plan you had when asked What type of plan were you enrolled in?
  • Answer Yes to Do you have a 1095-A form to enter for your Affordable Care Act plan?
  • Now you'll be asked How do you want to enter your 1095-A? You may either upload the 1095-A or type it in yourself
  • After you enter the 1095-A information, continue to follow the onscreen instructions to finish the Health Insurance section of TurboTax.
