My employer wants me to fill out a 2019 W4 instead of the 2023 W4 form, is this correct? Will I get in trouble if I do this?

The 2019 Form W-4 cannot be used because it is tied to the amount of personal exemptions for 2019 and personal exemptions are something that are not part of the current tax code.  I agree with DoninGA.  Give them a 2023 Form W-4 which they are required to accept.

No trouble but you can download a 2023 W-4 if you wish.

Why?

Complete the 2023 W-4 and give it to your employer.  They have to accept the W-4.
