My e file is getting rejected with AGI for 2016 not correct

Your 2016 tax return shows your 2016 Adjusted Gross Income  (AGI)  If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.

Form 1040EZ    line 4

Form 1040A       line 21

Form 1040        line 37

If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Timeline for 2016

If entering the amount from your 2016 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead.  If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2016 AGI may not be in the system. The IRS database may have errors for 2016 AGI's.  A number of people have experienced rejections  from the IRS even when entering correct AGI's from their 2016 returns.   When it happens, you just have to mail the return.

Note:  If you mail your federal return, you will also need to mail your state return.  You will not be able to e-file your state return.

You have not received you W-2--Wage and Tax Statement -- from your employer?  Have you contacted the employer?  You added  on to an unrelated thread so not sure what your issue is.

Sorry. Last yr I efiled fed and state and both were rejected. now I can't find my W-2 in order to file by mail. Do I have to have a copy of the W2 to send with paper file?

When you file a mailed return you are supposed to attach a copy of the W-2 to the tax return.  Can you get another copy from the employer? TurboTax does not have a copy of your W-2—the Wage & Tax Statement—issued to you by your employer, (nor does TurboTax have copies of your 1099’s).   You should always save those documents for your own records. You could ask the employer(s) for copies or you can get a copy from Social Security (for a fee of $86).
If you saved a pdf of your completed tax return, the worksheets will show the W-2 information you entered, but not the actual W-2.
