My box 8 is empty on my w-2 form, what do i do?

Unless you a server in the restaurant industry, box 8 likely will be empty.  That box is for allocated tips, and even most restaurant servers do not have anything reported in this box because they are required to report their tips, so there is no need to allocate the unreported tips.  Unless you are a server, therefore, there is no concern for the box being empty.

However, if you are a server, and have in the past received a w-2 with information in Box 8, then check with your employer to make sure that leaving Box 8 blank is correct and not a mistake.  They should be able to advise you on this.
