not true it still needs a state ID and there is none on the w2 at all
If there is no state identification number, you should use the Employer Identification Number located on the W-2. This will not affect your tax return in anyway and you should have no problem e-filing your return.
How can I fix this i have tried all day. I only worked in Alabama. Turbo tax did not put my state tax withheld on line 5a
I didnt work in another state only Ala I need help
Your Alabama state withholding should be reflected in box 17 of your Form W-2 (2021). Please clarify what you're seeing.
Do you see a withholding amount in box 17 of the W-2(s) you entered in TurboTax?
Does AL (or even Alabama) appear as the state in box 15 on the same line as that withholding, along with the employee’s state ID number?
Do your state wages appear in the same line in box 16?
Are any other states reporting income or withholding?
Does this work if you only worked in alabama
Double-check the information you have entered for your W-2, especially the section for lines 15 through 17.
If you have entered information for Alabama, along with wages and taxes withheld, but it is not transferring to your state return, then try deleting your state return and going through it again. That will allow the information to transfer from your Federal return from scratch.
Please help with this issue.
I have not worked out of state and I am still getting this error. I have deleted and started my state return again and have still been rejected.... Not sure what to do.
To clarify, do you have income earned or attributed to any state other than Alabama?
Perhaps a 1099 or gambling winnings? Any other income?
I did have a homeowners insurance 1099. I called yesterday and a supervisor was supposed to check on the return and call me back. Do you have any other suggestions?
If your homeowners' insurance 1099 had any kind of state designation on it other than Alabama, try deleting that state from the 1099 entry. Having a different state in the address section should not make a difference, so do not change that part.
It is happening to me too. I can’t solve it. I already consulted a tax preparer and they said they can’t do it for me. I have to do it by myself. They just advised me to try and send it thru mail. And by this time, they said ALABAMA is not accepting paper filing, i am not quite sure about that. This is giving me a headache.
Can you help me with my problem?is there a way to reach out tax experts here in turbotax. I dont know what to do anymore.
You need to make sure that the numbers in box 1 of your W2 match the numbers in box 16 of your W2. Alabama says that they don't. Go back and re-enter your W2 information to make sure that it matches.
