I live in New Jersey and work in New York. Do I need to file two separate income tax returns???

    Yes,  You must file a tax return in your residential state of New Jersey, and you also have to file a non-resident return where you work in New York.

    Thank you, John. So does that mean I have to purchase two copies of TurboTax software???

    No, you only have to purchase one software, However, you will be charged separately for the two states.
