Me and my family moved from PA to OH in July. Worked full time in PA till july and after moving to OH, working full time in OH based company. Do I have to file for both states as Part year resident and how to show income earned from W-2 in turbotax?

Hello Tsuthar,
Great question! There are a lot of people that move from one state to another.
Because you worked for two different companies in the two states, you will want to file a part year return for PA, and a part year return for OH.
Turbotax software will ask you questions regarding your address, if you moved, as well as if you earned income in a state besides OH.
This will help trigger the process of completing your federal return, as well as your two state returns.
When you enter your W2s, they process will let the software know which state to allocate the income to.
However, if you made interest or sold stocks or had other types of income, you will then need to allocate that income between the two states. Most people do it by the percent of the year that they lived in each state. If you moved July 1st, you could allocate that income 50/50 to each state.
Thanks,
Sean
