Mortgage 1098

I entered my mortgage 1098 interest paid $4,193.53. Then when I view my tax breaks mortgage, student loans, car registration etc. under the mortgage tab it shows my total as $4,743. Whys TurboTax listing a higher amount?

If you haven't tired to delete the entry and then re-enter it, that may be a simple solution. And occasionally there is a need to clear your cache and cookies to clear unwanted entries.

You can use the Preview My 1040 function before and after to see if your itemized deductions total changes.

Follow these steps to check it by using the Tax Tools:

• To find Tools: 
  • Sign into your TurboTax account and open or continue your return. 
  • Select Tax Tools in the left menu. 
  • You'll find Tools beneath Tax Tools.
  • Select View Tax Summary
  • Select Preview My 1040 (left black panel)
