Due to illness, I am going to miss the extended deadline for a partnership return (form 1065, normal extended deadline September 15) and most likely also the extended deadline for form 1040 (October 15). Please, what should I do? Write the IRS with some medical documentation? Or something else? If letters, what address for the 1065 and what address for the 1040, please?
Thanks in advance, any help appreciated.

There is nothing you can do ... there is no excuse for late filing that you can send in advance of filing the tax return. You are allowed one extension for each return and after that you are simply filing late. If the IRS ever sends you a penalty then you may beg for forgiveness by explaining why at that time.
Thanks, Critter-3. Do you (or anyone else who cares to reply) think I should include with the late returns (1040 and 1065a) a statement as to why each return is late? Maybe with medical documentation?
NOPE ... simply efile the return without an explanation since the IRS will not see/read it even if you mail in the returns. Only give an explanation if the IRS sends a late filing penalty notice ... only then will a human entertain your excuse.
