My mother-in-law has medicare insurance which they take out of her social security but she pays out of pocket

another insurance which is 151.88 month and also dental 25.60 a month and prescription 12.90 month,

I do not know where to enter this in turbo tax, so she can tell the IRS what she pays in monthly insurance.

Medical expenses are covered in the Deductions and Credits section under the Medical category. However, these expenses will not be listed on the return unless you itemize. In addition, the IRS only allows the medical amount over 7.5% of her income. She may take standard on federal and itemize on state. Most people do not itemize on federal. The standard deduction for federal is so high now that 95% of people are taking the standard deduction.

    • Single $12,200
    • HOH, $18,350
    • MFJ $24,800.
    • Additional if age 65 or older, blind, per person, per event:
      • MFJ, QW, MFS  $1,300
      • Single or HOH $1,650
