Medical Expenses Worksheet Line 2c

Shouldn't the number in Medical Worksheet Line 2c be equal to the sum of numbers on SS Benefit Worksheet line B and Line D?  These are the only medical premiums I pay, and they are deducted from SS.  In other words, the numbers entered from SSA-1099 DO NOT flow correctly to Medical Worksheet Line 2c.

Medical Expenses Worksheet Line 2c

If you are covered by Social security, then your Medicare Part A premiums are not deductible as an itemized medical expense. So the amount you see on line 2c would then be equal to your parts B and D.

Medicare Part A

If you are covered under social security (or if you are a government employee who paid Medicare tax), you are enrolled in Medicare Part A. The payroll tax paid for Medicare Part A isn't a medical expense.

If you aren't covered under social security (or weren't a government employee who paid Medicare tax), you can voluntarily enroll in Medicare Part A. In this situation, you can include the premiums you paid for Medicare Part A as a medical expense.  Pub 502
