Married Filing separately due to separation

My wife and I separated in August of last year and at that time our finances were completely separated. Our divorce wasn't finalized until 2021, I tried married filing separately, but the program wants me to enter her w2 information which I do not have. I know she already filed and never asked me for mine. I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong, or how I should file.

Married Filing separately due to separation

You should not need to enter your spouse's information except the SSN.  If you filed jointly in the past, the program might ask you for the information.  You can remove her forms or worksheets including her W-2 from the program.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

  • Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • From the left menu, select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow
  • Select Tools
  • Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
  • Select Delete next to all her forms and Continue with My Return
