Married, filing jointly but living in two separate homes.

I am married but living separately from my spouse. Our child lives full time with her, and both my spouse and I provide equal support for that home. Should I put that address as my main address, even though I do not live there full time, or can I put both addresses in, or does it not matter? Both our names are on the lease for that home, but my mailing address is the separate residence.

You are married and filing jointly.  Therefore, by definition, you are preparing only ONE Federal income tax return.  Use whatever address you want the IRS to use if they need to communicate with you or send you a refund by check.

Follow up question-- if we are living separately and filing together can we consider both homes as primary dwellings? Husband is supporting both households and we want to file together. Than kyou!
