I need to file my taxes via mail. I need to attached my W2 and some statements. May I use a binder or a Paper clip to attach the documents?

It would be best to use something that does not stand such a chance of falling off and letting your pages become separated. Do you own a stapler?
Yes, I do! I was not sure if I can use staples. I've read in some posts that it is not possible
When it comes to tax returns PLEASE feel free to use the stapler.
New Jersey says:
DO NOT STAPLE.
Well it is after all NJ ... enough said.
I am sure all the places that get stapled things and don't want/need them stapled have staple removers available at their fingertips.
lift up the first page so the w-2 is only stapled to that. staple the entire set of forms (assuming more than 1 page) at the top and follow the attachment sequence which is in the upper right of the form/schedule.
I would think the people at the IRS and NJ opening envelopes know how to do so without the expected inserts flying away inadvertently.
IRS says: Do not use a binder.
Remember that most mail is opened (and sometimes shelled) by machines not humans due to the sheer volume they receive and are stacked in bins to go to the correct department so unattached items can become lost. That is why you must always put your name & SS# on the top of all pages sent to the taxing authorities in case they get jumbled in with other returns (like if a bin is dropped). When things are handled in bulk dodo can happen.
