The 8949 is the  Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets.  TurboTax will create the form based on your entries for Investments, 1099-B or other Sales of Capital Assets,

Looking for form 8949 - where do I enter the info?

After spending hours today researching and entering everything I could think of in the search field, I finally called the Support Center [phone number removed]. The representative I had was outstanding. I had a 1099-S for the sale of a non-rental vacation home and I needed to have a Form 8949 generated to report to Schedule D. The information was entered in the Investment Income summary screen where you enter your brokerage accounts, investment accounts, and any loss/gain on assets. In the description box, I entered SECOND HOME and entered the dates and cash amounts and long-term. It will take you to additional pages where you will end up entering any expenses you may have incurred while holding that asset. Entering this way did create an 8949 in addition to reporting on Schedule D.

I hope you find this helpful.

I spent hours on this today also… the circumstances didn’t quite meet the description of any of the offered categories. I called customer service and was disconnected three times, smh. Thank you SO much for your assistance!!
