This is my first time doing a backdoor contribution, and on Form 8606, line 2 total basis, it generates the same number as my this-year contribution. How can I correct that?

Is it incorrect though - Line is carried over from your 2024 Form 8606 Line 14 so check prior year return to see where this number is coming from.
there is a question after the non-deductible contribution and also after the 1099-R summary screen where you can adjust the basis but be cautious as Turbotax can only get this from your 2024 carryover or something you input for 2025.
if you are backdating your contributions to prior year then the basis will carry over to the following year as the conversions are not backdated they are reported in the calendar year they are made.
if it incorrect you may need amend your 2024 return.
I don't have a 2024 Form 8606. I did not make any contributions to a traditional IRA or perform any backdoor conversions; this is my first year doing it. I answered "I did not make nondeductable contribution to my IRA" from 2024 or prior years.
are you totally sure... had some similar discussions here where folks then remembered they did a contribution many years ago, and Turbotax has been carrying it over since the last year you filed 8606 (it's not filed if you don't have any activity like a contribution or Roth conversion).
you can also check on the IRA Information Worksheet (in desktop Forms mode or online use PDF with all forms and worksheets) and go back to prior returns to see if this basis was being carried over.
otherwise it must have been entered by mistake - if so, sometimes I think the amount gets stuck even if you go back and say No to the basis question, say Yes to that and see if the amount it there in the next question, then zero it out.
Yeah I am totally sure, especially and number is exactly the same as what I filled this year. I do also suspect because I fill it wrong at first, then change later, the previous selection was stuck and not able to update in the back. I am thinking about removing all parts that relate to it, and restart😅
ok good - just making sure you're not giving up on some old basis - if it's stuck I think you have to go back to that question, say Yes, zero it out, then you can say No again.
I removed all related field and re-enter all of them, and it works! Thank you for helping
