I have a kid who has some "entrepreneurship" within her. She writes and self publish books, and sells them around our community. With total income about $400 for 2018 (I already helped her remitted the sales tax part back to the state). Besides this, she is a pretty same as a regular teenager in terms of tax status. How should I file tax for her? Does she need to file her own? Thanks a lot!

your child doesn't make enough to be required to file as it is less than $1050
Dependent tax filings
All taxpayers who are claimed as a dependent on someone's tax return are subject to different IRS filing requirements, regardless of whether they are children or adults. A tax return is necessary when their earned income is more than their standard deduction. However, the threshold decreases to income greater of $1,050 or the sum of $350 and the person's earned income. A dependent's income is unearned, when it comes form sources such as dividends and interest.
If her net income was at least $400, she'll need to file her own return to pay self-employment tax. Less than $400, a return wouldn't be required.
