Joint filing vs filing seperately

last year, before i was married, i was able to write off work costs, medical fees (ie parking fees, uniform, dental work, lab fees) but now that i am joint filing, their is a minimum costs in order to file. would it be more beneficial to file separately?

Joint filing vs filing seperately

It is almost always better to file Married Filing Jointly. There are no additional fees or costs to itemize your deductions as Married Filing Jointly. Medical deductions have always had to exceed 10% of your adjusted gross income regardless of your filing status. The same is true for Miscellaneous Itemized Deductions which are only allowable to the extent that they exceed 2% of your adjusted gross income.
