ITIN for dependent

Hello,

I was told that for applying for an ITIN for my disabled dependent daughter, I will need to add her as a dependent on my tax returns. But when I try to do that in Turbotax, I'm mandated to add an ITIN/SSN (my daughter does not have either), which is a bit of chicken & egg situation now !!

Appreciate a resolution to this.

You will need to file by mail and use the desktop version of TurboTax. You can leave the SSN field blank on the tax return. Please see the TurboTax FAQ below for full instructions. The link also contains instructions if you have already started the return in TurboTax Online; you can transfer your return to the desktop software.
