Issues with TTX updates on MAC

Fortunately my taxes are already filed, but I tried to open TTX to check something and 

I get a pop-up saying an update is available and I must update (nothing unusual)

The update downloads (takes forever on my Intel MAC) and it installs (nothing unusual)

I get a pop-up saying I'm Up to Date (nothing unusual)

a few moments later I get another pop-up saying there is an update available and I must update (WHAT?)

So I downloaded the update (same size as the last) and it installs and now I'm in a loop of being Up to Date, but there is another update I must install.  Three times now.

What is broke?
