My wife sold her interest in an LLC that owns a house, so for 2019 I have a long term capital gain, something new for me. I got incorrect advice from a google search, and I thought it went into Form 4797, for Sale of Business Property. Then I found something else that said it should go into the K-1 section, which had check boxes for disposition of interest in the LLC. But again something seemed wrong
Well, I finally asked the tax guy for the LLC and he said he would look at what I had done and could I print the return and show him. I found I could print it only if I chose to File By Mail, so I went ahead, and got the pdf and printed it. Tax guy looked and said no, it needs to go into Schedule D.
Then I found that choosing File By Mail locked my return and I can't go back and edit anything, I have to amend it.
I got into the K-1 and removed the inputs for the disposition, and deleted the 4797 form, and did Schedule D.
I decided to print it again, and Oh God! the Schedule D shows TWICE the sale price, and in 8949 it lists it twice.
I go back in now and look at Schedule D, and it only shows ONE sale, but in the Amended return it shows twice. So the tax due went up, of course.
This is a disaster.
I dont want to file the original and then the amended and then try to amend it again and file a third time
Is there any way to erase everything and start over???!!!
Please, God, say yes!

Try cancelling the amended return. Since all you had done was to print your return and you did not actually mail it, you do not need to create and file an amended return.
Then, once the amended return has been cancelled, you should be able to go back and edit the required sections to fix your return.
Use these step to cancel the amended return:
If you select file by mail again and need to go back into your return to make another change, see the instructions in the following TurboTax article for instructions. Just be sure to stop after step 4 so you can edit the return: How do I change from mail to e-file in TurboTax Online?
