Is there a discount code for college students? The Free edition is not FREE... I qualify for a credit so now Turbo Tax wants to charge $128 +35 to file my return

No, there is not a college discount code.   If you cannot use the Free Edition for a very simple Form 1040 return you are upgraded to a paid version.  What credit is triggering the upgrade?  

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
