Is the e-file down right now?

Trying to e-file today but the error message indicates that my AGI amount entered from last year in incorrect.  However, I have entered the correct number.  Is e-file down right now?

There is a good possibility that the IRS does not have the 2020 AGI for your Social Security number in their database.

Enter a 0 (zero) for the 2020 AGI and e-file the 2021 tax return again.

I can verify firsthand that the solution below works.

Question:

Correct an IRS AGI, Adjusted Gross Income Rejection

Article, Solution:

Many taxpayers have experienced various issues as the IRS was not able to verify their correctly entered 2020 AGI amount.

Here is some background on the 2020/2021 AGI problem: the IRS has a backlog of millions of tax returns from 2019 and 2020 that had not yet been processed and, as a result, the AGI is not available. Taxpayers had reported receiving their 2020 refunds or having their tax paid, yet the IRS did not have record of their AGI. This could have been the reason why your 2021 Return got rejected as they might not have your 2020 return/AGI in their systems yet.

We have even seen cases when taxpayers entered the correct 2020 AGI as posted on their 2020 tax transcript, yet their return still got rejected by the IRS - not eFile.com. Only after the taxpayer entered 0 - as in the number zero - as their 2020 AGI amount did their return get accepted by the IRS.

If your 2021 return was rejected your return for an AGI the IRS did not expect, click File and attempt to e-file again - you will be prompted to enter your AGI from 2020. Enter the AGI from the 2020 return exactly as it appears. If can not locate your 2020 return, see how to get a copy of your previous return or how to find your 2020 AGI. If you still face issues, report “0” as your 2020 AGI.
